I gave a presentation on Gears yesterday at KLDP’s annual meeting in Seoul, Korea. I had a great time and it was very good 듣기 연습 (listening practice) for my Korean. It was great to see so many people interested in Open Source Software in Korea. From what I understand the Korean market is 99.4% Microsoft (hopefully that’s just on the desktop). Thankfully, one of the presentations was about how to use OSS on proprietary operating systems. I was also greatly encouraged by the number of people there that were running Ubuntu. At the end of the conference I was even asked to help compile Gears on BeOS which didn’t go very well. We tried though!
